What the reservoir is
The reservoir is the tank, tote, or bucket that holds the nutrient solution.
Algae and light
Algae is green growth that can appear where light reaches the nutrient solution. Opaque reservoirs and lids keep light out of the solution.
Cleaning products
Nutrient products, pH adjusters, and cleaning products are the maker's. Follow the label for mixing, handling, storage, and disposal, and keep them out of reach of children and pets.
Before you reach in
The maker's instructions say how to disconnect a pump or light before cleaning. Keep plugs, cords, and connections away from water, and follow every maker's instructions. CPSC says a GFCI "is designed to protect people from severe or fatal electric shocks," and that ground fault protection is used "especially for circuit outlets in particularly vulnerable areas such as where electrical equipment is near water." Use a qualified electrician for any wiring.
Roots that look unwell
Root rot is a name growers use for roots that turn brown and soft. We do not diagnose plant problems or give treatments.
